Toronto Poetry Slam: Pride Month Slam featuring Tanya Neumeyer
June 30 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm$7
We always celebrate Pride Month with a fantastic queer poet feature and this month we are especially excited to feature TPP’s very own TANYA NEUMEYER!
Hosted by Alyssa Ginsburg.
Tanya Neumeyer is a queer poet and arts educator committed to access and equity. Tanya is a member of the Toronto Poetry Slam collective, a member of the League of Canadian Poets, and currently teaches spoken word at the Harbourfront Centre. A poet since 2006, Tanya has taught thousands of students how to write their own poems. Tanya has toured across Canada and was a member of the 2012 Toronto Poetry Slam team that represented Toronto at the US National Poetry Slam in Charlotte and the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in Saskatoon, bringing home the bronze. Tanya’s first chapbook, Piecing It Together, was published in 2009 by Thee Hellbox Press, a printing press making innovative, hand-made books. In 2015, Thee Hellbox and Tanya created a second chapbook titled, what breaks me open.
As always, YOU can be on our stage in the poetry slam or open mic. Max 12 poets in the slam signup, max 5 performers in the open mic slot (comedy, music and other art forms welcome on the open mic)
