Berger Maxianne

Maxianne Berger's most recent book is Dismantled Secrets (Wolsak and Wynn, 2008). She has been involved with poetry in and around Montreal since 1985. Her first book, How We Negotiate, appeared in 1999 from Empyreal Press. A French version was published by Écrits des forges in 2006; translated by Florence Buathier, it is titled Compromis. In 2003, with Angela Leuck, she co-edited the anthology Sun Through the Blinds: Montreal Haiku Today (Shoreline). She contributes reviews to Tanka Canada' s Gusts, and articles about poetics to the Revue du tanka francophone. She enjoys translating poetry (from French), has served as a judge for various youth poetry contests, and in 2005-06, she was a poetry mentor for the Quebec Writers' Federation. After 37 years as a clinical audiologist, the past 25 at the McGill University Health Centre, Maxianne Berger recently retired from that profession. This, she hopes, will leave her more time for writing.
