POETS IN THE SCHOOLS
Funded by the Ontario Arts Council
On-going throughout fiscal year (April 1 –March 31) until all funding has been allocated.

ELIGIBILITY – POET
Poet must be a full member and be in good standing for a minimum of two consecutive years (this does not apply to members in their first year of membership).
Poets have a limit of 10 full visits per fiscal year.

ELIGIBILITY – SCHOOL
Only Ontario elementary and secondary schools are eligible.
Schools have a limit of 10 full visits per school per fiscal year.
Standard reading fees are $200 per half day (two 45 minute sessions) and $300 per full day (four 45 minute sessions).
The fee is shared equally by the League and the school.
The school’s portion is paid directly to the poet on the day of the visit.
Cheques are issued directly to the poet after the League receives the signed claim and all original travel receipts.
* Some poets charge a higher rate. Be sure to confirm the details with the poet before making an application.
Travel, accommodation and meals are paid by the League directly to the poet with the assistance of the Ontario Arts Council.
Original travel receipts must be attached to your claim invoice. Travel fee claims without proof of purchase will not be honoured. Mileage calculations do not require original receipts (Calculated at 42¢/km).
** Northern Schools
The League subsidizes the FULL cost of the poet’s fee ($300 for full day, $200 for half day) and reimburses all travel and accommodation expenses when the author visits a minimum of three schools within the same region. Funding is allocated on a case by case basis. Call or email email@example.com or 416-504-1657 to inquire.
TO REQUEST A POET
Teachers must contact the poet and arrange the details of the visit before applying to the League for funding. After funding has been approved teachers will receive a letter of confirmation and poets will receive an invoice to be claimed after the visit.
ALLOCATION OF FUNDING
Readings are distributed based on funding availability.

The form must be printed out, filled in completely and mailed, emailed or faxed to the League office.
Incomplete and/or illegible applications will not be considered for funding.
You must use both the League and Ontario Arts Council logos on all promotional materials.
