While there will be no open mic at this event, we encourage participants to bring links for resources or poems by Indigenous poets to share in the chat.
This event will be recorded and circulated to registrants, available to be viewed for a limited time.

Elena Bentley
Elena Bentley is a multi-genre writer and proud Métis aunty. Her poetry chapbook, taliped, was recently published by 845 Press (taliped was also a finalist for the 2022 Vallum Chapbook Award). You can find her poems in literary journals like Arc Poetry, Room, The Malahat Review, and PRISM international, among others. She received an Honourable Mention in Grain’s 2022 Short Grain (Poetry) Contest, and in 2021 she was a finalist for CV2’s 2-Day Poem Contest. She is the author of the children’s picture book The Pickle in Grandma’s Fridge (YNWP, 2022), and she was shortlisted for CANSCAIP’s 2023 Writing for Children Competition (Young Adult category). Elena is the Editor for Grain Magazine.
Justene Dion-Glowa
Justene Dion-Glowa is a queer Métis person originally from Winnipeg and currently living in Secwepemcúl’ecw. They work in the non-profit sector. They are an alum of Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Their first full length colection of poetry, Trailer Park Shakes, is available from Brick Books.
Lorri Neilsen Glenn
Lorri Neilsen Glenn’s recent books include The Old Moon in Her Arms: Women I Have Known and Been (Nimbus) and Following the River:Traces of Red River Women (Wolsak and Wynn). Halifax’s first Métis Poet Laureate, she teaches in the University of King’s College MFA Program. Lorri lives and works in Mi’kma’ki.
