September 10, 2024 (Zoom): Poetry Workshop with David Ly
“Playing With Perspective” is a two-hour online poetry workshop for emerging and established poets to practice writing with different perspectives to propel a narrative forward. Sometimes, a poem calls for a particular perspective. Other times, we may struggle in deciding which to take. Through discussions, close-readings, and a series of writing exercises, this workshop will allow you to play with different perspectives and see how they shape your poem. By the end of this workshop, you will leave inspired to explore how choosing to write in either the first-, second-, or third-person (or all) can shape your writing in delightfully unexpected ways.
During this workshop, attendees will participate in a group discussion and relevant close-readings of poems to inspire their own pieces, and receive immediate editorial feedback.

The League does not tolerate discrimination or hate speech, including microaggressions, and any attendees engaging in bad-faith discussion around issues such as diversity, participant safety, accessibility, and equitability will be removed from the workshop. We ask that attendees remain respectful of the diversity of lived experience among participants.
This session will be recorded and available to members and registrants following the event; however, live participants will uniquely benefit from the opportunity to engage in discussion with David and other attendees.
