Morning Light

By Graeme Ruck

Morning light moves

through the kitchen silently,

silently like the steps I take

not to wake little slumbers,

sweet dreamers curled

into crib corners and pillow walls.

Silently, the light crawls

across window sills until

morning is broken

by pattering steps,

gentle crib calls.
