Sun Sneaks Through Leaves

By Katherine Koller

I am four and cut

my bangs to the limit

baby teeth thrilled

hanging on to a branch

of the apple tree

in my red cord jumper

among yellow apples

like a robin.

The photo is lost

but the image of

my dad taking it

fills me up like sun.
