I Brought You A Canadian Sky

By Karen Shenfeld

and from my sky

snow fell

on the holm oaks, palms

too showy flowers

on tanned sand

Julyโ€™s snow shocked bathers

I put on

my goose down parka

looked out

from the look out

to the sea

where six fins flashed

and a lone seal

bobbed like a buoy

you asked why

did I come

why did I stay

I heard

the silence

of your words

calling from

a courageous page
