Valerie Losell is always curious to see what challenge and opportunity will โ€˜swimโ€™ into viewcnext. Her reputation as a writer and poet, visual artist and illustrator throughout Simcoe County is an unexpected blossom on her โ€˜twigโ€™, growing little by little after the blast of a teaching-career-ending injury 11 years ago. Valerie has won several prizes for poetry, won Artist of the Year 2018 for Barrie, been published in The Northern Appeal literary magazine and on CBC national radio. She self-published Holding Up the Sky: 33 Paintings and Their Poems in 2018. Valerieโ€™s latest project is as illustrator for the childrenโ€™s picture book, Follow the Red Wagon, and its sequel, The Red Wagonโ€™s Winter Dream. Instagram @valerielosellart
