Anne Szumigalski Lecture: Tuesday, October 6, 2026

Join the League of Canadian Poets in welcoming Klara du Plessis as the featured poet for the annual Anne Szumigalski Lecture. This event will be held online on Zoom, as well as recorded for viewing following the event. This is a free event.

"Sound Pixels: Contemporary Canadian Poetry and Media Beyond the Page"

In this year's Anne Szumigalski Lecture, Klara du Plessis considers how poetry voices itself through language, yes, but also through visual technologies of the page and its remediation into interdisciplinary formats.

Drawing on examples from work by Kaie Kellough, Tawhida Tanya Evanson, and Oana Avasilichioaei, Du Plessis will also share poetry from her own video performances, showcasing a movement towards a critical integration of sound and visuality in contemporary Canadian poetry, and a relational slippage from literary infrastructures into gallery, theatre, and related spaces.

This online person event will be live-streamed but also recorded and available for viewing following the event. The event is free to attend, but registration is required.
