Have you heard about B.A. Husbands โ€” one of the earliest known Black Canadians to be conferred the Order of the British Empire (OBE)? Husbands is a historical actor whose life was first (quasi-wholly) illuminated by Gabriel Milhet. An African Nova Scotian writer, his research appears in Intersections, Canadaโ€™s History Magazine, and is forthcoming in The Canadian Encyclopedia and Findings / Trouvailles. His poetry is forthcoming in various venues, including The White Wall Review.
