Adam’s Apple
By Sabrina Spenser Smith
The smoking gun, the surefire clue, the dead
giveaway to the sweetness we carry. Blooming
bodies blooming fruit for all to see. How I overlook
the sugary miracles of flesh. Nicked my cheek shaving,
hot blood pooling in the sink, and the next day the wound
erased into memory. There are parts I want to hide and others
I want to nourish like a gardener who understands love and water
can grow most things. If you donโt want that which juts gracefully
from your neck, know I am always hungry for the tenderness of human
pulp. Feed me and take a bite from wherever your bruised mouth desires.
