Arbutus

By Stephanie Ross

alone in its nakedness in the backdrop of needles,
orange wood shines as its brackened partner
reflects its curves reaching towards lakeโ€™s center,
this meniscus holding arbutusโ€™ form

as if in two places
resting together as one

this reflection, a perspective in stillness
which the dirt bound maintains
in the wake of cottagers speeding by
with three hundred horsepower of unnoticing
