February 19 & 26, 2026 (Zoom): Career development workshops

Join the League for a two-part webinar series on developing your career as a poet! First, Jennifer Bowering Delisle will walk participants through the process of turning poems into a book, and then Bill Arnott will give participants the tools they need to create a marketing plan once that book is out in the world. Register for one or both events!

February 19 & 26, 2026 | 2-3:30pm ET

Free for members | $30 (one session) or $50 (both sessions) for non-members

Discounts are available for Black, Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQI2S+, and disabled poets using the coupon code IDEA2026.

The League does not tolerate discrimination or hate speech, including microaggressions, and any attendees engaging in bad-faith discussion around issues such as diversity, participant safety, accessibility, and equitability will be removed from the workshop. We encourage attendees to ask tough questions, but to remain respectful of the diversity of lived experience among participants.

This session will be recorded and available to members and registrants following the event; however, live participants will uniquely  benefit from the opportunity to engage in discussion with the facilitators.

From Poem to Book, with Jennifer Bowering Delisle

Thursday, February 19, 2026 | 2-3:30pm ET

Some poetry books start as individual poems and come together as a collection later. Others begin with an overarching concept, and poems are written to fit. In this workshop, we’ll explore practical tips for working both ways and conceiving of a book as a whole.

First, we’ll discuss strategies for creating a book out of a collection of poems you have already written. How can you make it feel cohesive? How do you choose an order or add structure? Next, we’ll look at the process of writing poems to fit a defined concept. How does the process differ, and how do you keep going when the project stalls? The workshop will include prompts for reflection and exploration and opportunities for discussion.
