coda

By Hannah Karpinski

for Brew

back to the wood where love lives

back to the frothy green

I was following a curved bridge over dried up creekbed

as light sliced afternoon from evening

knowing I would find you through the welded door

where one year ago we heard the brush rustling

& groped for each other in the dark

begin again bed pools with water

begin again with ear downwind

sound announces view looms lagging

& there goes the light again bending away

listen windward through doorway through theatre of trees

Iโ€™m here Iโ€™m here you here me

come find me in the dark
