Join the League of Canadian Poets, the Health Arts Research Centre, and the Canadian Association for Health Humanities for the next iteration of the Cross-Pollinations Virtual Rounds Series.

Join us on October 30, 2024, for a Cross Pollinations event on the theme of Harm Reduction. This event will feature a reading by poet Spenser Smith, whose debut book of poetry explores the toxic-drug crisis in B.C. We will also hear from Clinical Director of AVI Health and Community Services Corey Ranger, who works in street outreach, community health, public health, and nursing education.
Corey Ranger
Based in unceded Quw'utsun Tribe Territory, Corey Ranger (he/him) is a registered nurse and uninvited guest on these lands. Corey has spent the last 11 years working in street outreach, community health, public health, and nursing education. Corey is the Clinical Director for AVI Health and Community Services focusing on improving access to primary care and harm reduction services for communities disproportionately impacted by the drug poisoning emergency, houselessness, mental health challenges, and blood borne infections (BBI). Corey is also the President of the Harm Reduction Nurses Association and a B.C. Director for Moms Stop The Harm.
Spenser Smith
Spenser Smith is a poet who currently lives in Winnipeg. His first book, A brief relief from hunger, explores the toxic-drug crisis in B.C. and was published by Gordon Hill Press in 2023. He holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of British Columbia.
