Destination

Frantic feet to the door.

A continent away,

my arrival fills up the nest.

No more ruffling.

Rest my bones, I say,

from the battles we wrestle

every day,

and now is the type of peace

I always wanted.

Sleep, my bones,

a slumbering sea of silence,

safe from the highways we run.

No tide of traffic up here, never.

So sing, my bones, sing. Tomorrow,

I shall be the face of a flower

with legs like stems rooted,

and once I arrive here,

I want nowhere else to go.
