My Dishwasher by Michael Penny

Poet name: Michael Penny Poem name: My Dishwasher Poem: contains oceans in which dishes and utensils float, swim, and surf behind an opaque door. I load this maritime machine from a beach of rinse into the noisy soap-foam and tillered breakers in a swirl of live water. Nothing seems to drown although there’s an end gasp after the sunbathe dry into a brightness that proves that everything but rides the waves. End of poem.
