#NPM18: 20 WORDS FOR NPM’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY – A POETRY CHALLENGE FROM THE LEAGUE
It’s National Poetry Month’s 20th anniversary in Canada, and all month we’ve been ruminating on the number twenty. What does twenty years feel like? What does twenty years sound like? Is twenty a big number or is it small? Where will Canadian poetry be in another twenty years? These questions all felt too big to tackle!
So, we thought, why not play a game with twenty instead? And since we’re all about poetry – encouraging Canadians to read and write more poetry – why not get people writing?
THE CHALLENGE
Write a poem using one of the three 20 word sets we’ve chosen (with a little help from an online random word generator).
THE RULES
Any genre of poetry, any form. Any word count. Well-established poet or true-blue first-timer. As long as your poem includes the twenty! Take a photo of your poem (be sure to visibly include your name and/or social media handle if you’d like credit!), send it to [email protected] and it will be featured on the #NPM18 blog. Send your poems by April 30, 2018.
THE TWENTY
We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
