Petals
By Catherine Cicuttini
I walked slower today
I felt the pavement push against my feet
I felt kindness
and found possibilities
I saw doves,
and bees,
and gently swaying trees
I discovered fate
in the tiniest of moments.
I lifted my chin
smiling up at the sky
—laughing.
Look at my petals turning towards the light
a silly girl who just couldn’t believe
that doing things differently
could make her feel alright.
